Reform

Navigating Reform: Are you ready?

Are you ready? The most contentious piece of federal health reform legislation – a requirement that every person have health insurance by next year or face tax penalties – starts to kick in this fall. It is officially named the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, although some groups refer to the legislation as just the Affordable Care Act, ACA or “Obamacare.” The enrollment period begins October 1 and runs through March 31. Many Michigan residents will be able to buy insurance through the Michigan Health Insurance Marketplace, an online exchange where the coverage may be more affordable.

Important: Individuals enrolling in the Michigan Health Insurance Marketplace will be asked to provide a FFID and NPN. In order for HIA to provide services to you throughout the life of the plan, enter our assigned identification numbers listed below. You won’t pay more for coverage with an agent’s assistance, AND you get the help of an experienced agency that can help you compare and choose a plan that works best for your needs. The Federally Facilitated ID and NPN inputs allow the insurance company to associate an agent to the plan, so that we can work for you on your behalf if any issues or questions arise throughout the plan’s existence.
